Today’s Tip – Branding a personality; “People ARE watching… and listening” –
That’s right, people are watching and listening. That is why you should push your presence online, in publication or over the radio airwaves. In fact you should be everywhere being heard, read, watched. You want to be seen. Would you not want people to know you are out there? Funny enough, people of importance want to know you are out there. They want to know you are out there just as much as you want to be out there in the public eye. It is the job of “important” people to pay attention to possible clients that are buzzing around the scene.
Your voice should have some restrictions on them. You set that tone. If you want to be a ball puncher, then do so. If you want to be the voice of reason, then go that way. Just be aware of what you are saying and doing. That is why a person in the spot-light hires a P.R. Company, such as BBR Productions Inc. to help them keep a smooth appearance. As you are being followed in the media, so are your actions. “There is no such thing as bad publicity.” I disagree. Just see what happened to Tom Cruise and Charlie Sheen. They had to hire good P.R. People to get them back in grace.
Rule of thumb: Get people to see you by letting them know you exist.
Once they know you exist, they will follow you. People are intrigued with talent. If that talent is a skill, or the ability to get noticed, then someone is watching/listening. That is why when you are doing something you send out information to these people. They might not come, but after a while they will recognize you are doing things. It’s not always about shows though. It is about people getting your name to them outside of your efforts. Create that buzz in unison with your voice. Your branding creates that guide so it can be pushed as such.
People are watching, this is the time not to close your blinds!
