Managing your time more than watching the clock. While clock watching is important, it’s not the even close to the most important. Being able to manage your time effectively is an essential component on your path to success. This week we are going to help you with this. First some ideas to get you thinking in the right direction.
Ready for the trick? It’s a simple one. All you need to do is change from keeping busy to keeping focused. Spending your day in a rush of jumping from one thing to another doesn’t help you with your time management. You don’t accomplish that much and at the end of the day, likely you are frustrated by this. You need to focus on the right things, not just running around keeping busy.
Getting to where you want to be isn’t a simple matter of just deciding to do it. You need to form new habits, good ones. Harder though is breaking old habits. We have some ideas to help you do this though so never fear. The first step though is admitting you have a problem. We are going to have you do a bit of work this week, and today’s homework is for you to get an idea of just how much time you spend doing certain things.
Grab a piece of paper and a pencil, we’ll wait. You’re back good, now start writing down everything you do on a normal day break it into three pieces “Work” Home”and “Sleep.” Don’t leave off anything make a big long list. We’ll wait again. Got it down, great! Now we need you to go ahead and add how much time you typically spend doing each of those tasks, round the numbers to a minute no seconds on here please. Once you have all of that grab a calculator and start adding for each column. See how you do. If you are spending more hours in a day, you have a big problem. If you are managing to add hours to that day by time travel, we need to talk be I could use one as well.
Take a look at what’s on that list, things like Facebook might be tough to judge since it sucks you in, so do text messages and phone calls. Think hard about those three things. For sleep use eight hours even if you sleep less, chances are at the end of the week you can sleep more, which will make you more productive in the long run. Stick with us this week to find out how.
